IMRaD Assignment

The difference in a research paper and a report is that you have to go and find the information through primary research.  You have to go out and actually find your research through interview and polls.  Although there is secondary research involved later in the paper most of the information is found by interview.  It seems like this paper is more personal because for me personally, I'm asking an opinionated question which should spark some good thought.

Hopefully there are a lot of people who know about organ donation and have a view on whether it should be regulated or not.  I could ask if people would sell an organ if they really needed the money and by making it personal it should help get some people thinking more about the topic giving me better results.

Remediation Reflection

This remediation project was something I have never really been conscious of doing before.  I have done something like this in my previous works in school but never understood that I was actually revising and changing the media of information I had already written about.  It was a good way to realize that most of the information that we obtain is remediated in some form way.

The purpose of this remediation project was to change the media of a research paper we had written in order to present the information differently.  I kept the exact information, I just shortened it to make it more simplistic and added pictures for visual stimulation.  The point was to show how information can be changed in format in order to be presented in a different way.  Everything was exactly the same besides the way the information was presented.  I enjoyed changing it up into a prezi as well because it's a much more enjoyable way of presenting the information.  My audience was the same as my paper.  The design I wanted was something relatable to the topic.  I went for a cell design in order to be parallel with the idea of cloning which would involve cloning cells. I used pictures in order to relate to cloning as well.  All in all the remediation was to show that information could be transformed into a new view.

Reflection 3/26

Mason and Jacob helped tell me what things I needed to improve my prezi.  I knew I needed to use pictures and increase the data on my slides.  I was trying to keep my slides short but I made them a little too short.  Once I add pictures and citations along with improving my information then my prezi will be complete.  With the information now I can make it to the 8 minute mark but I feel it needs to be a little bit longer.  Maybe I should tweak my organization just a little bit.  I need to adjust my text size according to the room size as well.

Remediation Assignment

Remediation seems to me like it is just a visual display of a paper.  It is another example of something that has already been written about.  An example is what one of the readings said or a from of new media.  I like the example it gave as to where a book was turned into a movie.  The movie was a new type of media and a good visual example of the novel and it is a new media because it is a new revised version of the old novel.

With these two writings, I seem to be understanding that its just a revised version of an original piece.  Multimedia and the constant search for the revival of old things is a form of remediation.  We like when things are remade into the new visual form because we are a visual species.  Remediation is just the answer to that.

Outline Paper 2

I. Intro
   1. Introduce with a quote from a famous doctor discussing cloning
   2. Thesis will be to about main points
       a. Background on cloning and the history of it.
       b. Why cloning should or shouldn't be allowed
       c. Counterclaim based on why cloning is good because it can create new organs

II. Body 1
    1. Give Dolly story
    2. Background on how cloning began
    3. Success rate and mortality rate, as well as current cloning projects

III. Body 2
      1. Give argument on why cloning is bad and reasoning behind it.
          a. Success rate is poor so it is pointless to even try
          b. When cloning is successful, clones are premature and brittle due to complications in DNA.
          c. Reason 3 not sure on yet

IV. Body 3
      1. Give counterclaim recognition
      2. Speak out on why it doesn't work based on research
          a. Cloning is good for organ transplant but success rate is so low and the quality of the clone isn't good enough to be able to produce a solid transplant

V. Conclusion
    1. Summarize point and restate argument.
